WaMH in PC Conference 2013: 'Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)'

This year's WaMH in PC ‘Really Useful Conference’ will be held at Cheltenham Racecourse on Wednesday 9 October looking at innovative approaches in primary care mental health.

You can download the full agenda on the following link - 2013 Conference Agenda - and the afternoon session will be split up into a series of workshops including the following session on 'NLP':

Workshop: NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming): Using Metaphor for Change
Speaker: Dr Maureen Tilford, MB. ChB and GP

There are a number of different approaches which can be utilised to help people to change and  unlike cognitive methods, which use rational thought to challenge fears and limiting beliefs, NLP and hHypnosis use creative imagination and metaphor.

The emphasis is always on recovery and  in this workshop you'll be shown and given the opportunity to try out some easy NLP techniques.

You'll learn how to enable your patient to use their own creative imagination to bring about change - it's amazing how quickly people find their own imagery.

The techniques covered in the workshop will include:

  • Anchoring
  • The Circle of Excellence
  • The SCORE dance
  • The Three Mentors

Run in conjunction with primhe (Primary Care Mental Health and Education), our conference is focussed on bringing mental health professionals and organisations together in a collaborative setting.

Delegate fees are £125 per person for the event with free CPR training available on a first-come-first-served basis. To book your place please download and fill in our Registration Form.

Fees are payable by cheque to "RCGP Wales" or by invoice upon request with further details available from our Project Manager Lesley Hills via email at lhills@rcgp.org.uk or on 029 2050 4516.
