WaMH in PC Conference 2013: Workshop Details Published Online

Our ‘Really Useful Conference’ will be held at Cheltenham Racecourse on Wednesday 9 October and will be offering a series workshops on innovative primary care mental health approaches.

The afternoon session will be split up into a series of workshops led by professional trainers on the following subjects:

  • Mindfulness
  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
  • NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)
  • Mental Health Promotion
  • Bathe Techniques
  • Emotional Freedom Therapy
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Positive Psychology
  • Safeguarding

The day will be run in conjunction with primhe (Primary Care Mental Health and Education), and you can download the full agenda on the following link - 2013 Conference Agenda.

The event will look at how the well-being of staff and patients can be improved in general practice and bring mental health professionals and organisations together to in a collaborative setting on the day.

Delegate fees are £125 per person for the event with free CPR training available on a first-come-first-served basis. To book your place please download and fill in our Registration Form.

Our ‘Really Useful Conference’ will be held at Cheltenham Racecourse on Wednesday 9 October and will be offering a series workshops on innovative primary care mental health approaches.

The morning session will give delegates a chance to define some key messages and a conference statement which we will use to send a key message on mental health to NHS England and NHS Wales.

Meanwhile, the afternoon session will be split up into a series of workshops led by professional trainers on the following subjects:

Our target audience is wide ranging but our focus is to bring mental health practitioners and professionals, such as GPs, nurses and psychiatrists together with agencies, commissoners, organisations and policy makers so they can work in collaboration.

BBC Film Explores Science Behind Mental Illness

A new BBC film has explored the science behind mental illness as part of the corporation's ongoing season looking at mental health issues.
 
The documentary called Inside My Mind uses computer graphics to travel inside the bodies and minds of 5 people who all suffer from a range of mental health conditions including schizophrenia, OCD. anorexia nervosa and bipolar disorder.
 
The programme looks into the social, biological and psychological changes which are part of each person's condition and unravels the treatments which are helping them overcome their conditions.
 
The show is available on the iPlayer until 19 August 2013 and was screened on TV as part of the BBC Three It's a Mad World Season which is taking a look at mental health issues.
 
The corporation has decided to examine mental health as one in four people across the UK will suffer from some form of mental health problem each year and it is something which can happen to anyone, at any time.
