Getting a Life Conference - Cardiff September 2012

We're pleased to announce details of our forthcoming Getting a Life Conference about living well and extending the length and quality of life for those with mental health issues across Wales.

The event is due to take place at the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Cardiff on 27th September 2012 and aims to bring together enthusiasts interested in primary care mental health in Wales.

Delegate fees are £30 per person with the conference providing attendees with the opportunity to:

  • Improve their skills and competencies on mental health issues
  • Improve their confidence to manage mental health issues particularly in a primary care setting
  • Learn how improved outcomes are delivered through collaboration and partnership
  • Develop their confidence and competence to a Gold Standard level by making trust, person centredness and communication a reality in daily practice.

The conference will include a range of talks by mental health experts including the following presentations:

  • Improving outcome for patients with co-morbid common mental health problems and long-term physical conditions - Professor Andre Tylee Head, Primary Care Mental Health, Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College, London
  • "I want to die… A patient’s story"  - Theatr Fforwm
  • Ex-service personnel with service-related mental health problems. Should they be a special population for health and social services?  - Dr Neil Kitchiner, Principle Clinican, All Wales Veterans Health and Wellbeing Service

Facebook Cover Picture Help Required

They say every picture tells a story and we're looking for a helping hand to come up with a new image for our new Facebook page.

We launched WaMH in PC on Facebook earlier this month and are looking for you to help come up with a suitable Cover Picture for our new Page.

The Cover Picture is a recent addition to Facebook following the site's redesign earler this year and it forms the large banner image which spans the top of most Facebook profiles you now see.

If you can think of a suitable image which will help us instantly tell our story to our Friends and visitors then please feel free to send us your suggestions.

Any pictures must be at least 851 pixels wide and 315 pixels tall and can take the form of straight images or graphica designs.

If you've got any ideas about what you think would best represent WaMH in PC and the work we do then please email your suggestions to our Project Manager Lesley Hills at lhills@rcgp.org.uk and we'll pick out the one which we think best suits our page.

Mental Health Helplines and Voluntary Sector Links Required

We're looking for your help to add more information to certain sections of our website so we can help promote our national mental health services and organisations.

If you know of, work for or run a mental health helpline or voluntary sector organisation which works to address mental health issues in Wales then we'd be more than happy to hear from you.

With your help, we want to increase the information on both our Helplines and Links and Voluntary Sector pages so if you can think of any appropriate organisations which would fit into either of these sections we'd be more than happy for you to let us know their details.

Please email any contact details and links you may have to our Project Manager Lesley Hills at lhills@rcgp.org.uk and we'll look into adding them to these pages on our site.
